A major consolidation in the equipment auction market is poised to reshape how Canadian contractors buy and sell heavy machinery with the acquisition by Euro Auctions of Weaver Auctions – a well-established auction house serving contractors and equipment operators in Alberta and British Columbia.

The move expands Euro Auctions’ reach across Western Canada and strengthens its national presence in the equipment marketplace – an important development for general contractors involved in large-scale infrastructure and heavy construction projects relying on efficient equipment procurement and asset remarketing.

Weaver Auctions operates two major sites in Rycroft and Prince George, each offering more than 25 acres of yard capacity. The company has built a strong reputation in Western Canada for large-scale unreserved auctions featuring construction machinery, agricultural equipment and transport assets.

National auction network grows

With the addition of Weaver Auctions, Euro Auctions’ Canadian network now spans multiple regions across the country, creating a nationwide platform that connects buyers and sellers from coast to coast.

The company’s Canadian group already includes several established auction businesses such as Michener Allen Auctioneering, Jardine Auctioneers and North Toronto Auction, along with Coast2Coast Collector Car Auctions.

The addition of the Weaver operations brings the group’s Canadian footprint to seven permanent auction sites, providing contractors with broader access to heavy equipment inventory across multiple sectors including construction, transportation, forestry and agriculture.

For Canadian contractors and equipment fleet managers, the expanded network offers several advantages, including access to a global buyer base spanning more than 100 countries, increased visibility for consignors through international marketing channels and advanced online bidding platforms that allow buyers to participate remotely in real time.

Opportunities for contractors and fleet owners

Industry demand for heavy equipment remains strong as infrastructure investment, resource development and fleet renewal cycles continue across Canada. For contractors, particularly those operating in heavy civil construction, the ability to efficiently buy and sell machinery is essential to maintaining competitive fleets and managing capital costs.

By integrating Weaver Auctions into its global platform, Euro Auctions aims to increase competition among buyers, helping sellers maximize asset value while providing contractors with competitively priced machinery.

Yvette and Jeff Weaver, Co-Owners of Weaver Auctions, said joining the international network ensures long-term growth while preserving the company’s local expertise and relationships. The existing management team and staff will remain in place, ensuring continuity for regional contractors who have relied on the company’s auctions for years.

Euro Auctions leadership also highlighted the strategic importance of expanding further into Western Canada’s construction and resource markets, particularly in northern Alberta and British Columbia.

Local expertise meets global scale

The acquisition reflects Euro Auctions’ broader strategy of partnering with established regional auction companies while providing the technology, marketing and international reach of its global platform.

For Canadian general contractors working on major infrastructure projects, that combination of local expertise and global buyer access could play a growing role in how construction fleets are managed in the years ahead.

As equipment demand continues to rise alongside Canada’s infrastructure pipeline, a stronger national auction network may help contractors access machinery more efficiently while improving asset liquidity across the construction industry.
