Contractors heading to CONEXPO-CON/AGG this March will be part of more than just another major trade show. The global construction industry is preparing to make history with a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS attempt that puts safety, scale and collective impact squarely in the spotlight.

A record attempt built on safety

On March 3, 2026, thousands of construction professionals will gather at the Las Vegas Convention Center wearing high-visibility safety vests in an attempt to break the world record for ‘most people wearing high-visibility vests’. The current record is 2,499 participants. And it’s a record that organizers fully expect to be shattered during CONEXPO-CON/AGG’s opening ceremony.

It’s not just a stunt, however, explain the organizers. In fact, they say the effort is designed to underscore safety as a foundational value across commercial, civil and heavy construction, from highways and transit systems to mining, energy and major civic infrastructure. Participants will receive commemorative safety vests and formal recognition for contributing to the historic event.

Reflecting the industry’s economic weight

The record attempt is also a visual reminder of the industry’s economic reach throughout North America, influencing the construction and evolution of transportation networks, resource development, sports facilities, cultural landmarks and essential public infrastructure. And for general contractors supporting large-scale projects across North America, it also signifies the vastness of the industry’s workforce, and how interconnected and critical they are to economic growth. Underscoring that point, Dana Wuesthoff, Show Director of CONEXPO-CON/AGG, said the event is meant to celebrate the people behind that impact.

“This record attempt is more than a number – it’s a celebration of the advances, hard work, innovation and dedication of everyone in the construction industry,” she said. “We want to honour those who build our cities, roads, railways, airports, stadiums and monuments and highlight how their efforts touch every aspect of society. This record is particularly important to us as safety is and always will be of utmost priority for the industry and the people who make this work possible.”

CONEXPO-CON/AGG returns to Las Vegas

Held every three years, CONEXPO-CON/AGG runs March 3–7, 2026, and is expected to draw nearly 140,000 attendees and more than 2,000 exhibitors from around the world. The show remains a key destination for contractors looking to track equipment trends, digital tools and project delivery innovations shaping heavy construction.

Major manufacturers and technology providers, including Caterpillar, John Deere, AWS and Autodesk, are slated to participate in the 2026 program, alongside equipment leaders such as Volvo, CASE Construction and Hyundai. Educational sessions will focus on productivity, sustainability, workforce development and technology adoption across complex projects.
