Komatsu recently officially opened its new Edmonton parts distribution centre in St. Albert, Alberta., marking a significant expansion of the company’s Canadian parts infrastructure.

The approximately 135,000-square-foot facility doubles Komatsu’s previous warehouse capacity in Canada and expands its ability to stock fast-moving and strategic parts closer to jobsites. The company says the operation will improve distribution efficiency and help dealers access critical inventory faster, supporting construction, mining and forestry operations nationwide.

The new centre is also integrated into Komatsu’s North American logistics network, with 24-hour delivery capabilities to dealers throughout much of Western Canada. For contractors and fleet operators, the expanded inventory and faster delivery are intended to help reduce equipment downtime and keep machines productive.

Technology and capacity

The facility incorporates Komatsu’s global planning and warehouse management systems, along with updated layouts, automation and new equipment designed to improve warehouse efficiency and accuracy. The expansion also increases workforce capacity and positions the Edmonton operation for future growth.

Komatsu marked the opening on September 10 with employees, local officials and representatives from dealer partners, including SMS Equipment, Wilson Equipment and Equipment Sales & Service. The event featured facility tours, remarks from company leaders and guests as well as a ceremonial tree planting.

“Today we’re celebrating more than the opening of a new facility,” said Rod Bull, CEO of Komatsu North America. “The new Edmonton parts distribution centre enhances our ability to deliver the right parts at the right time, helping customers stay productive while supporting future growth across Canada.”
