The use of high-performance tilt-up concrete panels in its Julius Boulevard net zero industrial development project in Halifax has earned Lindsay Construction a pair of industry awards from the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA).

The project, which spans about 400,000 square feet across two buildings, was completed in 2024 for HPB Bayers GP Inc., a partnership among Skyline Industrial REIT, Secure Capital and Leftside Developments, with architectural support from T.A. Scott Architecture + Design.

The development features net zero carbon energy design, on-site renewable energy generation, the use of high-performance tilt-up concrete panels, and thermal mass and energy storage.

The TCA rewarded the efforts with its 2025 Tilt-Up Achievement Award in the Warehouse and Distribution category, as well as its Excellence in Sustainability + Resiliency Award.

The 2025 Tilt-Up Achievement Awards, presented annually by the TCA, recognize outstanding tilt-up concrete projects that exemplify excellence in design, engineering and construction. Winning projects, including this Canadian structure, will be celebrated at the Tilt-Up Awards Gala in October in Nashville.

Of note is that the Excellence in Sustainability + Resiliency Award is a new TCA designation, with Lindsay Construction being among its inaugural recipients. This award highlights leadership in sustainable tilt-up practices, including reduction in embodied carbon, waste and water minimization, advanced energy efficiency and durability, innovative construction, and community impact.

“We are incredibly proud to be recognized by the Tilt-Up Concrete Association for this landmark project,” said Cory Bell, president and CEO of Lindsay Construction. “Julius Boulevard sets a new standard for industrial development in Atlantic Canada, demonstrating what’s possible when innovative design meets sustainable execution.”

“This development represents a prestigious milestone for Skyline Industrial REIT, showcasing the quality and innovation we strive for in every property. It has been an honour to be part of such an impactful project,” added Mike Bonneveld, president of Skyline Industrial REIT.
